The Blue Lip Parrot (Cryptotomus roseus), is one of our favorite local parrotfishes. It is a very small parrot, that only grows to about 3"! It is slender, almost to the point of resembling a wrasse, and prefers to hang out in grass beds in the wild. These parrots do not typically inhabit areas that have reefs or rubble, almost always in grass. Due to this, and their small size, this is the only local parrot that could be considered somewhat reef safe.
