  •  The Yellow Stingray (Urobatis jamaicensis) is a common ray or skate in the Caribbean. They prefer a sandy bottom so they can hide and ambush their prey. Be careful with tankmates, as some fish will pick at the sedentary rays. They easily adapt to eating frozen shrimp or squid, although it may take a few days for them to adjust. This is a smaller ray, reaching the size of a dinner plate or so. They do have a venomous spine on their tail, so always be careful when handling them, or cleaning your aquarium. They are somewhat sensitive during shipping, so a long acclimation is a must, once you receive them. We recommend at least a 2 hour drip acclimation. Once settled in, they make a great aquisition, and with the proper care, can live for 10 years or so.
